Durham Educational Psychology Service Critical Incident Support and Guidance to Covid-19

The Covid-19 pandemic has already had a big impact on the way we live our lives as individuals, families and communities.  This is an uncertain time with lots of unknowns, and the current school closures mean that we are all trying to navigate this without the usual structures and support systems being in place.  It will feel more challenging to support those in need and to act as a protective factor for children, young people and their families, whenever our access to them has significantly reduced.

It is anticipated that both individuals and whole school communities will be affected by loss before this pandemic has ended.  This document aims to highlight some best practice principles on which to manage challenging situations, provide some specific information on bereavement and signpost further local and national resources and sources of support, and set out the Durham EPS support offer to schools.
