Durham Mining Museum
Our website has about 115,000 pages covering the history of all known forms of mining in Cumberland, Westmorland, Northumberland, Durham plus the metal mines of North Yorkshire, North Lancashire and The Isle of Man (all areas covered by the local HM Inspector of Mines). We specialise in information about mining deaths and have an alphabetical list of over 23,000 miners.
We have a small museum in Spennymoor Town Hall.
A travelling exhibition of small mining artefacts and photos is available. We can also arrange family history research lectures connected with mining.
