How do you identify Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

How does the setting/school/college know if children/young people need extra help and what should I do if I think my child/young person may have special educational needs?

Mrs Marie-Louise Binks is the Special Educational Needs Coordinator. If parents/carers have any concerns about their child's needs please contact her at the school.

How will you support my child with their special educational needs and disability?

How will early years setting/school/college staff support my child/young person?

There are twelve full time and one part time support staff who support all of the children in their learning. Some children have specific one-to-one support if they need it.

How will you make sure my child's education meet their needs?

How will the curriculum be matched to my child's young person's needs?

The children have helped devise the curriculum. The Pupil Leadership Team help staff to decide what they would like to learn. Teachers make adaptations to all lessons according to the needs of the children.

How will we know my child is progressing?

How will both you and I know how my child/young person is doing and how will you help me to support my child's/young person's learning?

We have regular meetings with parents/carers to discuss their child's progress. Parents/carers are welcome to contact school if they wish to discuss any aspect of their child's progress. Support Plans are also provided to detail outcomes for children to promote their learning and wellbeing.

How will you support my child's overall wellbeing?

What support will there be for my child's/young person's overall wellbeing?

We have four trained Listeners who deliver the Listening Matters programme. This is an opportunity for children to talk about their feelings and express any worries with staff in one-to-one weekly sessions. Qualified counsellors are also available who work with chidlren with higher level needs.
