Durham Student Volunteering and Outreach
We provide volunteering opportunities for Durham University students within Durham City and the surrounding area.
Placements involve volunteering within the education sector, youth enrichments projects, working with the elderly, environmental projects and befriending.
A project that you may be interested in is our free one-to-one tutoring service run by Durham University students. The project utilises the knowledge and experience of degree level students to help secondary school pupils with their GCSE and A-Level studies by offering them an hour of tuition each week for any subject(s) of their choice.
One-to-one tutoring is one of our largest and most successful projects and we have received feedback that shows that pupils find the extra support very helpful. Tutoring increases confidence, ability and grades and also raises aspirations.
If you’re interested in taking part in the programme or if you have any other questions please get in touch with us by email student.volunteering@durham.ac.uk or telephone 0191 334 1797.
