Friends of Chopwell Wood
We are a group of volunteers who help to protect and care for Chopwell Wood.
Our aims are to promote and develop the recreational and educational facilities within the wood for the public to use, whilst conserving the wildlife and habitats. We work with Forestry England to give people the chance to be involved in the management of the wood.
We have funded a forest classroom for schools and other groups to use, this is bookable via Forestry England. In the past we have raised funds from the sale of Christmas trees at a site next to the main car park. Sales for 2022 are cancelled due to the retirement of our sales partner.
We meet once a month at the forest classroom (postcode NE39 1LT). Regular events are organised throughout the year and members are kept up-to-date through newsletters and posters.
Some of our events are free. The price for any events which are not free is clearly stated on posters and on the website.
Volunteers are welcome every Wednesday, throughout the year, to help with woodland maintenance and conservation tasks. Additional work is occasionally done on other days. Please check our website for details.
