Small Steps - Seize the Day

We are a fast growing charity, based in the North East of England, raising awareness of epilepsy and supporting families who have babies and toddlers with this condition.

We do this across our local area through our support groups and local events and also nationally and internationally through our website Forum and Facebook page, where many families find useful discussion, empathy and support.

Small Steps - Seize the Day was set up to fill a gap experienced by many families who are coping with the emotional trauma of an epilepsy diagnosis and the difficulties that come with a child who as a result may be developing slowly, if at all. Families in this situation can feel isolated and avoid going to social events where babies who are developing well and are healthy may go, not wanting to answer any intrusive questions. This can therefore mean that they miss out on regular activities for their babies such as messy play, song and dance, baby massage - we work to change all that.

It’s an emotional roller coaster especially in the early days. If this is you or you feel you could help us to provide support in some way, please feel free to contact us, write on our forum or join our Facebook page for a chat with other mums and dads in this position.
