Virtual School for Looked After Children

The Virtual School monitors the progress and achievement of all looked after children for whom Durham County Council have a responsibility. The Virtual School is also responsible to ensure that all Looked After Children have access to a school place, that any issues affecting their engagement in learning are addressed and strategies put in place to address specific needs. Pupil Premium for Looked After Children is also mangaged by the Virtual School.

The Virtual School Head (VSH) manages the Virtual School. The VSH is a statutory role for all local authorities to have.
