Groundwork NE and Yorkshire

We help people and organisations make positive changes in their local area in order to create better neighbourhoods, to build skills and job prospects, and to live and work in a greener way.

We work across the North East and Cumbria and work on hundreds of individual projects each year:

  • tackling climate change
  • helping people out of fuel poverty
  • bringing out the best in young people by helping them to improve their local area
  • building stronger communities by improving green space
  • getting people back into work by creating green jobs
  • providing training

We regularly work with volunteers and value the contribution they make to our projects. Volunteering with us could put you in a strong position to progress into paid employment with us or another employer. Many of our existing employees began their careers with us as volunteers.

We offer young people training opportunities to gain the expertise for work. We also work with schools to support ‘at risk’ young people, providing  positive experiences and building skills helping them move forwards with education or training.
