Shincliffe Local History Society

We started as a group of people with an interest in the history of Shincliffe and came together as a society in the late 1980's. We now have a membership of about 55 people from the village and the surrounding area.

Our society meets monthly (except for the summer holidays) to talk about local history, listen to speakers or visit places of interest.

The monthly meetings are open to the public (non-members pay a small charge) and are usually held in Shincliffe Church Hall.

We have a formal constitution and a committee which deals with the Society's business. The society takes part in the 'Yesterday Belongs To You' event which is organised by Durham County Council.

To join our society and learn more about Shincliffe and it's history please call us.
