Come to our family-friendly gallery, and discover the rich archaeological history of Durham from prehistoric times until the 21st century.

For nearly 50 years the Museum of Archaeology has collected evidence of past life in historic Durham. Our collection includes the everyday and the rare and beautiful. From everyday clay pipes and coins to gold rings, silver Anglo-Saxon sword mounts and the first complete Roman Navy Diploma found in the country.

Our 4schools service offers an exciting programme of education visits and learning resources for a range of subjects and Key Stages using the collections.
