Nepacs - supporting a positive future for prisoners and their families in the north east

We are a North East charity who promote a positive future for prisoners, offenders and their relatives by supporting family ties at every stage of the criminal justice system.

We support people at court when a loved one is sent to custody and in those anxious days when visiting prison is a mysterious and daunting prospect. Our volunteers bring energy, warmth, friendship and offer reassurance in the most challenging of circumstances.

Our services include:

  • Support at Crown Courts in Newcastle, Durham and Teesside.
  • Visitor centre services at all seven prisons in the north east.
  • Family support services for prisoners and their families/friends.
  • A regional youth project helping children impacted by imprisonment.
  • A holiday scheme for prisoner's families.
  • Training for professionals on supporting prisoners families.
  • Parenting and relationship programmes for prisoners and their families.
