DISC County Durham Young People's Floating Support

Floating Support is a flexible support service offered to you in your home.

We will help you to identify your needs, and support you to develop your independent living skills if you are:

  • aged 16 to 25 years
  • living in County Durham
  • in need of advice about and support with housing issues

We can support you to:

  • prevent homelessness
  • access appropriate housing
  • develop your life skills
  • access employment, education and/or training
  • resolve neighbourhood disputes
  • increase your knowledge of your rights and responsibilities
  • access other specialist services
  • access a bond and a home through private landlords
  • move in - setting up utilities, budgeting and accessing furniture
  • understand your tenancy agreement
  • maximise your income
  • participate in your local community 

We can also support you to access other services including:

  • health services
  • education, training and employment
  • treatment for drug or alcohol use

The level of support we provide will vary depending on the needs of each individual, but as a minimum we will provide weekly support sessions.

Hours of availability are the office opening hours but support workers can visit outside of these times if needed.
