Harbour Support Services

Harbour Support Services is a specialist charity to help County Durham residents who have been affected by domestic abuse.

Thousands of families and individuals experience the debilitating effects of abuse every day and Harbour Support Services are there to provide that vital lifeline of advice and support.

Harbour staff will work individually with you and make you aware of your choices, providing you with help on how to keep safe and be less isolated. The service is free, confidential and available throughout County Durham. As well as one to one support, Harbour offers group programmes to increase your knowledge about domestic abuse and help you start to move on with your live.

Some parents or adults in families can hurt, hit or bully other adults and children. This can make children feel scared. Harbour also has specialist staff to help children and young people feel safer and understand that what is happening is not their fault.  Harbour does this by offering individual or group support, and uses activities such as play, art and drama as well as talking through issues to engage with the children and young people.

For more information on the service, visit the Harbour website or Durham County Council's domestic abuse support page
