Cheesy Waffles Youth Project provides clubs and projects for young people age 11-30 years with special educational needs on an evening, weekend and holiday time.

Where is it located and what areas does it cover?

They run our activities from Belmont Community Centre, Buckinghamshire Road site and Sunderland Road site and from Durham Trinity School, Aykley Heads - Durham.

Young people from all areas are welcome to attend.

Service Users are part of a six monthy planning process where they decide what activities they will take part in.

Staff are trained in working with young people with special educational needs and attend regular training including:

  • BASIC MAKATON
  • AUTISM AWARENESS
  • DEALING WITH DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOUR
  • C CARD FOR SEN ADULT
  • WHEELCHAIR HANDLING

All staff are qualified youth workers Level 1 - 4
