Disability North

We are one of the largest disability charities in the north of England. We provide information, advice and independent living services, helping and supporting more than 10,000 disabled people, their families and carers every year.

We offer impartial advice and information on a range of issues including benefit claims, holidays and leisure, equipment and adaptations. The service can be accessed by disabled people, their families and carers, health/social care employees and anyone with an interest in disability issues.

Projects and departments based at The Dene Centre include:

  • Service Team
  • Direct Payments Support Service
  • Disability North Events

We organise up to 20 events per year including training courses, conferences, annual fundraising events, such as golf days and sponsored walks, and DNEX (the Disability North Exhibition) held at Gosforth Racecourse.

We have a fully accessible conference room and committee room for hire. We offer training and access advice to organisations, employers and individuals. Please contact us with any special provision needs you require.

There are no charges for our information and advice.
