Children's Physiotherapy

Children’s or ‘Paediatric’ Physiotherapists assess children’s movement, mobility, posture, muscle strength and flexibility. We treat children mainly through exercise, movement and positioning through play. The Physiotherapists base treatment on an assessment of the child's individual needs and will discuss any goals with the young person and their parent/carer.

We work with children and young people:

  • With a neurological condition, from birth up to 19 years of age in full time education, who have difficulties or a disability which affects their ability to carry out everyday tasks.
  • For all other physiotherapy needs, from birth to 16 years of age, who have difficulties or a disability which affects their ability to carry out everyday tasks. After their 16th birthday, they will need to be referred to Adult Physiotherapy.

We see children and young people within a variety of settings, including nurseries, schools, special schools and their home.
