B.L.IN.D. New Age Kurling

Blind Life took to New Age Kurling because it was designed for people with disabilities.

To play the game you can use a pusher (a pole with one end that enables you to push the stone while standing up), or you can kneel or sit to push the stone (whichever is the more comfortable for you).  Th stone itself runs on ball bearings and there's a target to aim at, all played on a badminton court.

You get four stones, and it can be played in singles or pairs. You can stand, kneel, sit, or use a wheelchair. There is also a ramp that you can use, particularly if sitting to take your shot.

We hold sessions on:

· Saturday afternoons at St Paul’s Centre, Spennymoor from 1.30pm – 3.30pm, with tea/coffee and biscuits available.

· Sunday afternoons at Sports Centre, Wolsingham from 2.00pm – 4.00pm during the winter and on a Wednesday evening from 6.45pm – 8.45pm during the summer.

Why not come along to a session and either watch or have a go at a something new and for all abilities and ages (under 18’s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian).

Donations towards costs are welcomed.
