We offer ‘30 hours childcare for working parents’ in partnership with other childcare in our area.
We are a Day Nursery located in Ferryhill, offering services for children and aged 2-5 years old, including funded 2 and 3 year old places.
We offer flexible sessions and parents are welcome to enquire about childcare to fit in with shift working. Please speak to Debbie regarding completing 30 hours eligibility checker online.

Dean Bank Early Years recognises that all children have different needs and will endeavour to make sure that every individual child's needs are met.
Where necessary practitioners will undertake training and seek advice from other professionals in order to provide quality care. The centre has two designated SENCO's who attends the Local Authority training and meetings, along with the manager.
Children will be provided with relevant activities and play opportunities that promote their wellbeing and development and offer age appropriate challenge.
Some additional funding may be claimed from the Local Authority to support children with special educational needs.
Current practitioner experience to date includes supporting childrens emotional well being and additional needs, supporting children with visual impairment, autism and cerebral palsy. Children with speech and language impairment are fully supported.
Practitioner training and qualifications include Cache SENCO level 3, Autism awareness, Speech and Language support level 3.
Dean Bank Early Years is wheelchair friendly and practitioners are familiar with equipment provided by physiotherapists/occupational therapists. Additional training and equipment will be sought when relevant for individual children's needs.

All practitioners have a good understanding of child development. Using this knowledge, practitioners will observe and assess play and development and support each individual child with play and learning within the setting.
Practitioners are aware of who will support with special educational needs and disabilities within the council and working closely with parents, will seek the support available.
All children are included in all play and learning activities, and adjustments and support will be given at all times.

The curriculum at nursery, offers children learning opportunities to develop areas of the 7 learning areas to ensure that each child is making progress within the Early Years Foundation Stage goals. Children are fully supported with close key person relationships, observing children, and planned experiences reflect current children's interests and abilities.
Planning is completed whole team, ensuring that all children are focused upon, and challenged to meet particular areas that may require further support.
Within the planned learning experiences are individual children's plans of support including speech and language to support children's listening and attention, spoken word and communication. Activities are changed regularly to reflect progress and individual's needs.

Practitioners within the Early Years team will access services which children are already accessing to acquire appropriate and consistent care programmes, always in consultation with parents and carers.
We will refer to Health Visitors, Family Workers, Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists (the list is not comprehensive) and other services which will support the children's individual needs, following care programmes which support the children.

Our SENCO has completed the Level 3 CACHE in SEN. Previous training includes autism awareness, visual impairment support, physiotherapy for a child with cerebral palsy.
Our SENCO and the manager attend council SENCO business meetings.

Our environment is fully accessible for wheelchair users, both indoors and outdoors. The nursery layout, takes into consideration space for children to move around, and individual children's needs are assessed and supported by relevant adjustments within the nursery as and when required.

Transitions are fully supported from children moving into the 2-5 room from the 0-2 room, with parents working closely with key persons to ensure full information is passed on and the children are able to visit the different room as often as needed.
Children moving on to different educational establishments are supported by the lead practitioner contacting schools, with parents support, giving relevant information about the child's learning and development. Assessments and reports are passed on to the new establishment.
During this transition key persons within the new establishment will be invited into nursery, and will go with the child and parents to the new establishment to support each child within the local schools in Ferryhill. All key persons will work closely with children, parents and carers to ensure they are fully ready to move onto their next learning environment.
A full transition procedure is in place to support all children and families.
