Flowerpots Children’s Private Nursery
We offer ‘30 hours childcare for working parents’ in partnership with other childcare in our area.
We are a private day nursery based in the Randolph Community Centre, Evenwood, Bishop Auckland.
The nursery is a single storey purpose-built facility with excellent access to outdoor play areas.
We are currently open from 7.30am to 5.30pm, 51 weeks of the year but can be flexible to parents needs, for example term-time only places, half or full days with support around funding options for 2 year old play and learn sessions (for low income and non-working families), 15 hours of early education (for all 3 and 4 year-olds); and 30 hours funding for 3 and 4 year-olds (for working parents).
We also have limited places for older children requiring holiday care.
Our small team is highly qualified led by Alyson, our director who is an Early Years Professional with Qualified Teacher Status. The setting as a whole has also participated in Elklan speech and language training and as part of a National Programme of professional development has been awarded Communication Friendly Status. The rest of the team are qualified to Level 3 or higher. We also work in partnership with our local collages to encourage the training of apprentices.
Healthy, freshly cooked meals are provided on-site and we can cater for individual dietary requirements.

We pride ourselves on our Key Person/child relationships. The Key Person builds firm bonds with your child helping them feel safe and secure in their new environment. It is this early attachment that will allow the child the confidence to learn. It is through their partnership with you as parents and carers that the Key Person gets to know your child understand their needs, preferences and routines. This information then informs assessment and planning for your child’s next steps.
The assessment of your child’s progress throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage is essential in identifying his/her strengths alongside areas where additional support maybe needed. For example, it may be necessary to offer them different opportunities or use alternative approaches to learning with measurable outcomes.
We adopt a graduated approach based on a continuous cycle of four stages of action.

Working in partnership with other professionals, parents and the child we aim to individualise planning to each child's needs, interests and stages of development to ensure all children make good progress.

Working closely with outside agency professionals such as health visitors, speech and language therapists, educational psychologists and Durham SEND and Equalities Co-ordinators we have developed a broad range of experience of supporting children with a variety of need.

As each child is different so are their transitions. We work closely with parents/carers, other professionals and their next education establishment to plan how best support each child in making that next step.
