Rookhope Primary School - Early Years Provision

We offer ‘30 hours childcare for working parents’.

We are a Primary School in the small rural village of Rookhope, three miles north of the River Wear in the North Pennines. We have two mixed aged classes.  We also offer 15 hours provision for 2 year olds, 15 hours provision for 3 and 4 year olds and can offer 30hours free childcare entitlement for working parents.

In January 2021, we became part of the Upper Durham Dales Federation of primary schools working together with Forest of Teesdale, St John’s Chapel and Wearhead primary schools. Our unique rural location, and small class sizes, allow us to place a strong emphasis on learning outdoors and providing a topic based curriculum tailored to meet the individual learning needs of every child. At the same time, being part of the federation allows the children to work collaboratively with others within a wider community.
