Jo Mullaney Childminding

I offer ‘30 hours childcare for working parents’

I am a professional registered childminder with experience in working with children with SEND, specifically children with communication and language difficulties. I have completed a Level 2 course to broaden my understanding of Autism and have had the opportunity to put new skills into practise.

I am currently studying a Master's degree in Education - Early Childhood Studies (2nd year) which has deepened my knowledge of educational theories, curriculum design, evidence based approaches and child development.

I am also working on an NPQ level 3 in early years leadership to enhance my professional relationships with parents.

I have always wanted to work with children, recognise that all children are unique. Having a natural flair with little ones and becoming a mother have led to my interest in childhood development and this drives me in wanting to provide the best possible care.

I pride myself on having a safe and welcoming home in an easily accessible village location, opposite a park and a huge grass area, and I hold a full UK licence. I have a degree in Fine Art, am a keen gardener and love the idea of sharing my nurturing skills and creative interests.

I will offer the free hours for 3 and 4 year olds of working parents and free hours for eligible 2 year olds.

How does the early year's provision identify and assess children with special educational needs and disabilities?

How does the early year's provision identify and assess children with special educational needs and disabilities?

Through collecting on entry starting points for each child, observing their play and interactions and identifying typical development milestones to highlight any potential issues/emerging needs.

How will the curriculum be matched to meet children's developmental needs?

How will the curriculum be matched to meet children's developmental needs?

By using my knowledge of child development to identify fun and challenging tasks/activities to encourage little ones to engage in learning. I will also refer to government curriculum guidance and specialist websites/services to keep knowledge up to date. Majority of the activities I offer are based on being outside and out and about within the community.

How will the early years provision prepare and support my child(ren's) transition to their next educational establishment?

By having a huge focus on independence and giving children lots of opportunities to develop their sense of self to enable their confidence to grow and prepare them for their next chapter.
